SecurityThe full amount of your original agreement is invested by Link Charity. Link Charity's conservative and careful mix of assets assure your agreed upon income for life. In case you exceed your life expectancy by many years, the special additional reserve account is dedicated to continuing payments to you. Link Charity, like most of the other 30 charities that issue self-insured gift annuities, makes more conservative assumptions than life insurance companies to ensure that there will be part of the original amount left for the work of your charities. Link Charity and its sponsoring member charities adhere to the standards and ethics required of members of the Canadian Charitable Annuity Association. The Association also carefully sets recommended annuity rates based on a professional actuarial firm's calculations and assumptions. In compliance with the CCAA standards, you are urged to seek independent advice, and secondly, you have ten days from the date of signing your application, to change your mind and have your funds returned. There are no penalties or fees to exercise this right. Link Charity files an annual report with the CCAA (no confidential information and no names are shared). Every three years Link Charity's agreements and investment portfolio will be reviewed for their adequacy by a professional actuarial firm. |
